Still time to join us for the 4th Annual Mission in Motion Charity Event!

On September 21, 2024, we invite you to unite with us to provide "hope and a future" for vulnerable youth. Our 4th annual charity event, Mission in Motion, is a family-friendly participation experience for everyone to either lace up your shoes, hop on your bike, grab your skateboard, scooter or anything that gets you moving for a distance between 5 km to 50 km.

Our staff and teams have set an ambitious goal to collectively cover over 900 kms on September 21st in order to help achieve our goal of $20,000. By reaching this goal free programming for one year at Youth Unlimited will be provided for 72 youth. Your participation or donation will help provide the vital support needed to see young lives transformed.

Our youth face growing challenges, including depression, anxiety, suicide, substance abuse, and unemployment, leading to deep despair about their futures. A 2022 Stats Canada survey revealed that nearly 25% of our youth regularly experience loneliness and isolation, which has been proven to contribute to a host of mental, emotional, and social challenges.

At Youth Unlimited, we’ve learned that the best way to combat loneliness and help youth overcome these challenges is through strong, positive, and caring relationships. Research shows that the most significant factor in youth resiliency is one stable adult relationship

Here's a recent story from one of our staff about the changes one of our youth has been experiencing:

A year ago, one of our junior high youth, Jason, was on the fringe of a gang, using marijuana and often getting in trouble at home and school. Around that time, he began to express to our staff a deep desire to find friends who would help him be a better person, clean up his habits, and focus on his studies so he could reach his dream of going to university. He knew what he needed to do, but he needed the support of a few caring people to make those changes

Over the past year, he has reached out to our staff again and again for support and grown an incredible amount. Our staff have seen him stop using substances, graduate junior high with honors, and get into the high school IB program. This summer he also volunteered with a children's day camp at a local church.

Although he has overcome so much in one year, he will continue to need support to navigate the new challenges of high school and realize his dream of going to university as a young person in the foster system.

Your participation or donation for Mission in Motion will help Jason and may others like him find the needed support to move from darkness to light. P.S. If you want to donate but don't know who to support, I would highly recommend Eric Liu. He is a youth from the Commons drop-in who has decided he needed to start giving back so other youth can find the same support he did.
